*Sigh*

So this weekend I watched “Becoming Jane” and “Pride and Prejudice” which are both movies that I love! I absolutely adore the main male characters in these two movies; Thomas LeFroy, played by James McAvoy

and Mr. Darcy, played by Mathew MacFadyen.

When you first see the movies you will probably find that you do not find these two leading characters very attractive, but you will notice that as the movies go on they become more and more attractive by the minute.. My favorite lines that these two leading characters say are: For Thomas LeFroy it is when he and Jane are outside talking after he has offended Jane once again and he is upset that Jane is going to marry Mr. Weasley and so Jane kisses Tom and Tom tells her that he has no money and no property and depends entirely on his Uncle and can not yet marry but she has to know how he feels then he says (which is my favorite line)>“I am yours Jane, I am yours heart and soul” ( doesn’t that just give you goose bumps, it does me..) ok I actually have 2 favorite lines the other is after Jane finds out that Tom is engaged and Jane and her brother are walking through the forest and they run into Tom and Jane congratulates Tom on his engagement, very snidely, and Tom tries to offer an explanation and just kind of gives up and says “I can not do this” and runs over and kisses Jane and then says “Jane, I have tried! I have tried and I cannot live this lie.. can you? Can you Jane” and then later says“What value would there be in life, if we are not together?” (goose bumps once again…)
Then my favorite line from Mr Darcy is when he follows Elizabeth after church to that really cool pavilion and he confesses his love (even though he insults her first) but my favorite part is where he blurts out “I love, I love you. most ardently.”( I totally melted when he said this) Ok so on this one I also have two favorite lines. The second is at the end where Elizabeth cant sleep and she goes out for a walk in the early morning and low and behold who is that walking out of the mist? The one and only Mr. Darcy and he aproches her and and they both say they couldn’t sleep then Mr. Darcy says “You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. And I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.” (that’s right goose bumps again)

Maybe I just love these lines so much because I’m a hopeless romantic and could only imagine someone saying something even remotely close to those passionate, heart felt, yearning words to me.. One can only hope..

You are so right, Kathleen. I'm not a hopeless romantic, but my heart skipped a few beats on that last Pride and Predjudice scene.

Of course these eloquent declarations would be thought up by a woman. Where are the men that can express themselves like that? Oh right, there aren't any. Sheesh.

I fear you're forgetting Mr. Collins from Pride and Prejudice. He's always so romantic - and absolutely not awkward at all.

"It's been many years since I had such an exemplary vegetable ... "

Steal my heart, Mr. Collins.

I'm glad you are posting stuff! See you are a good writer when you take the time to actually do it.

But I hate Jane Austen. She has ruined love.

Rhett, you hater of romance!

I too, love both those (or all four of those) lines. I watched that scene with Mr. Darcy and Lizzy out in the rain on the internet about six times before I saw the movie. That sold me, right there.

I agree with Laura...Rhett you're just a hater of romance..

I am not a hater of romance. I actually love romance. But Jane Austen is NOT romance.

I feel as if a very large, nasty can of worms has just been opened.

I agree with Rhett partly. But Jane Austin's books are not considered 'romance'. Her books are a satirical viewpoint on British society among the nobility and other lower classes. Even the main characters in her books are made fun of constantly for their viewpoints of courtly romance etc. (i thought i'd put my 2 cents in--sorry.)

Yup ... my boyfriend is indeed a manly man. He does nothing but wear flannel, chop wood, and have arm wrestling contests. With such manly displays, who needs bewitching?
